Providing affordable and available healthcare
Before Hurricane Katrina, our two-tiered health system was strained. Twenty percent of our people were uninsured and 25 percent were below the poverty level. Today is worse.

Helena's Plan:
- I will fight for funding to add community-based healthcare facilities to lessen the burden on our regional hospitals.
- I will urge the Congress to provide our hospitals with compensation for uncompensated care.
- I will urge our nation's leaders to provide federal incentives toward rebuilding our healthcare workforce.
- I will support the Louisiana Health Care Redesign Collaborative to help guide our medical future.
- I will be support tougher regulations to encourage insurance companies to increase their use of premiums toward patient care.
- I will be a catalyst toward the recovery of an ailing healthcare system.
