Energize our port
The expansion of the Panama Canal in 2014 is expected to double the amount of goods passed through American coastal ports. We must add capacity to our port to prepare for the demands of worldwide cargo. The Port of New Orleans still has 150 million dollars in Katrina-related repairs to complete.

Helena's Plan:
- I will push for funding for a fourth terminal for cruise ships;I will work to add capacity to our port and fund dramatic modernization and improvements to wharfs.
- I will work with our state delegation to seek the funding to restore our port and help it rise from the banks of a mighty waterway.
- I will work with Senator A.G. Crowe to determine the viability of a deep-water port off of the Plaquemines' coastline.
